Well another Rumble has come and gone and we are now on the Road To WrestleMania. Every match was phenomenal this year!! I felt bad for Miz as I saw the awkward landing he took off the top rope during the pre-show. I thought he tweaked his knee but Cole said during the Rumble match itself that it was his ankle.
ADR vs Big Show: what can I say? It was better than I would have ever expected! That chokeslam from the set through the table was amazing!! Personally I was shocked that was not the end of the match. Loved the finish of Ricardo using the duct tape to keep Big Show from getting up. Tons of fun comedy spots and nail biting action.
Team Hell No vs Team Rhodes Scholars: Another great match though I was disappointed in the ending. I really wanted Damien and Cody to win the titles as I thought it was time to take the belts off of Kane and Daniel Bryan.
Royal Rumble match: This by far had to be one of the best rumble matches I have seen in years. I think the last time I was this hyped up was in 2004 when Chris Benoit won it (yes I know I said a taboo name but it is how I feel). All the surprise entrants were amazing. So happy we got what could have been a sneak preview of Goldust vs Cody at WrestleMania. But the biggest pop of the night for me was seeing the return of Y2J back to the ring!! From what I understand Chris will be back full-time through WrestleMania 29 and we might have another Ziggler/Jericho match, but hey those two stole the show at SummerSlam last year. While Wade was correct in saying Papa Shango was going to compete, I don't think he meant he was going to come out as a Pimp and bring some ladies of the night with him. Speaking of Wade, he did an amazing job this year in the Rumble. Very disappointed that he got eliminated by Bo Dallas. Honestly, if you wanted to put Wade up against an NXT guy, it should have been Richie Steamboat, especially after the confrontation Wade had with his father. Not sure where this program is going to go but we will have to wait and see. However I loved the fact Wade eliminated Bo ala the way Undertaker eliminated Maven back in 2002 and that he knocked him out with the BullHammer. The only downside was that once again Super Cena won the Rumble, which leads me in to...
Rock vs Punk: This match lived up to what many of us believed. We all knew it was going to be Rock/Cena II at WrestleMania if Cena won the Rumble. However, I will admit this was Dwayne's best match since returning to action. He and Punk had great chemistry in the ring. Hated the ending and if Rock was going to win the title he should have won it on the first try, not have the match restarted due the supposed interference of The Shield (yes I know they were involved). Wish we got a Rock Bottom to win the match but I will take a People's elbow.
All and all, I give this PPV 4 stars and WWE definitely kicked off 2013 in the right direction!! Would love to know what you all thought of the Royal Rumble :-)
